Summary

LinearClientTest called the live Linear API in the unit tier. When a developer had LINEAR_API_TOKEN set, a slow or failed call made the pre-push hook fail with no code change. Without the token, one test passed without a check and wrote noise to the output.

Defects fixed

  • Phase 1 (#641): The live Linear API calls in the unit tier made the unit result depend on the network. The token checks now run against an sttp SyncBackendStub in LinearClientMockTest. New tests cover a 5xx answer and a connection failure. The live-call tests are removed from LinearClientTest.

Testing

  • core.test covers LinearClientMockTest and LinearClientTest (no network access).
  • The CI run on the phase PR passed.

Follow-ups filed

  • #642: LinearClient.validateToken hides the cause of a failed token check
  • #643: LinearClient.defaultBackend makes a new HttpClient for each call and never closes it
  • #644: LinearClientMockTest imports Issue twice
